Excerpts from Waves of Worship
Chapter 2 ~ The Value of Music in Worship
"In regards to our modern worship services, music can set the tone for the whole service. The creative power of music can help bring about an atmosphere that’s more conducive to enter into God’s presence. This helps us to get our focus on the Lord. This music, as in King Saul’s case, can have a soothing effect as well. Have you ever had a rough day, maybe stressed out, and you just needed to chill? If you put in some nice calm music, it will just naturally calm your soul and soothe your emotions. I can do this by picking up my guitar and playing. It doesn’t even have to be a song in particular, it can just be flowing around on some chords and before long, the music has brought me to another place emotionally."
Chapter 10 ~ The Teacher
"Music is really a language of the spirit that penetrates the heart and soul. Music gives wings to the mind and flight to the soul. On many occasions I’ve seen music melt the hearts of people, even the hardest of hearts. I think sometimes it happens in such a way that before people can figure it out mentally, the music has already touched them in an emotional or even spiritual way. Anointed music allows us to feel God’s love and His very presence. This is how we can taste and see that the Lord is good."
